The Family

Well, the Clearwater Chalk Art Festival this past weekend was...interesting. Never before had we chalked so close to the beach (it was literally across the street) or in hurricane force winds. Got to admit it was a little frustrating trying to get the chalk to stay down in continuous 25-35 mph winds because of Hurricane Sandy and getting blasted with sand from the beach and watch it pile up on our picture. But, on the bright side, we got to spend time with awesome fellow chalk artists which we always greatly enjoy! The event itself was also run very well considering it was the first year so we definitely plan on going back again next year.

If we are honest, there were many times throughout the weekend we just wanted to pack it up. Also, we aren't really happy with how this piece turned out, but we gave it our all... and are now qualified to be Extreme Chalkers!

P.S. For the record, we used about 15 sticks of black chalk in this picture (when we probably could have done it in 5) and used up 3 cans of hair spray (when we usually don't even go through a whole can). Damn you and your winds, Sandy!
